Import procedures
The company BIVAC International is in charge of pre-shipment inspection of imports valued at USD 2,500 or greater. Exporters must provide BIVAC with an invoice containing a detailed description of the goods to be shipped and a statement accepting inspection. The DRC’s import-export control authority (OCC), through BIVAC, verifies the quantity, quality, and price of imports without a pre-shipment inspection certificate and charges 40% of the FOB value. Both OCC and the customs authority (OFIDA) require that all documents be in French. For more information consult OFIDA and IZF websites.
