Means of transport recommended in town
- Recommendation
-
In Luxembourger towns buses are the most common mode of transportation. Every locality has its own service: CFL-bus for the City of Luxembourg. In addition to this, there are bus services running the intercommunal links in between the Great Duchy's localities.

Means of transport recommended in the rest of the country
- Recommendation
- Train is the fastest, as well as the cheapest mode of transportation: railways provide links between the biggest cities and towns of the Grand Duchy, also connecting it to the neighboring countries' networks. Trans-border trains run an hourly service from the capital city to Brussels (via Arlon and Namur) and to Trèves, as well as a two-hourly service to Liege and, less regularly, to Metz and to Nancy. Some international trains go to Paris and Nothern Germany or transit through the Grand Duchy servicing the Brussels-Strasbourg-Switzerland/Italy axis. The TGV-Est train has been operating since June 2007 and connects the Luxembourg city to Paris in only 2h10. For greater distances it is better to travel by plane. There are two national companies providing domestic and international flights: LUXAIR and CARGOLUX.
- Rail companies
-
The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL)
- Flight from Greece
- No aircraft company operates direct air connection from Athens to Luxembourg. Several European aircraft companies such as Lufthansa, Alitalia, and Swiss Air operate regular flights from Athens to Luxembourg. To find out air connections from Greece to Luxembourg click here
Traveling by yourself
- Recommendation
- As in all countries of the European Union where one or more communitary institutions are located, there can be a risk of terrorist acts. Common-law criminality remains weak in Luxembourg. It is however necessary to exercise normal vigilance in order to protect handbags, bags... It is better not to leave anything in cars.
